Have you ever wondered what the heck a child theme is or what someone means when they’re talking about a minor release of WordPress?
Well, fear not and wonder no more.
The fine folks on the WordPress Marketing Team (by which I really mean some kindhearted, knowledgeable volunteers who are exactly the type of people who make up the bulk of WordPress development and support) have put together a fancy-schmancy WordPress Jargon Glossary replete with easy-to-understand definitions for terms like Excerpt and Gutenberg and Customizer and Plugins.
It’s so easy, in any industry really, to fall into the jargon trap.
Even with as ‘user friendly’ as I try to be with my clients and other folks I interact with on a business-basis, I bandy these terms about all the time without even realizing it, and I know I’m not alone.
I’m thrilled to see the WordPress community stepping up to help make WordPress that little bit more user-friendly and understandable.
Now you have a place to find out, quick and easy-like, what a backlink is and why you might be interested in having one or a few for your latest blog post or where your WordPress trash goes.
It’s a fascinating read, so check it out.
And if you’d like a handy reference document to download and keep for yourself, I’ve put together one just for you.
